A. Receiving the Credentialing Packet
Each potential candidate we recruit is sent a Credentialing Packet to apply with our company. Here is the process it follows once received & completed:
If the file meets any of the following criteria it will be submitted to our Provider In Review (PIR) Committee:
- Open claims.
- Death claims.
- $250,000 settlement or more ever.
- Claim Severity: Any claim that has settled for more than $100,000 or more on applicant's behalf in the past 5 years.
- Claim Frequency: 2 or more claims within the past 5 years that have settled for any amount (dismissed claims do not apply).
- If the applicant answers "yes" to a question on our malpractice application that raises a red-flag or concern.
- If the applicant has been out of the medical field for an extensive amount of time.
B. Primary Source verification process is required on all Whitaker Medical, LLC candidates.
Our credentialing team will send out all verification requests directly to the work history or schooling, if applicable, for each candidate. Other verifications are done on-line.
- Highest level of education verified directly by the school. If the practitioner is Board Certified that will equate to the highest level of education and therefore be verified instead. All foreign graduates will be verified through the ECFMG.
- Past 10 years of work history is verified through the facility directly by contacting the Medical Staff Office or Department Chair of their specialty.
- Any gap in the applicant's history from degree completion to present that is 30 days or more will need a written explanation.
- All active & inactive licensure are verified directly with the State Board.
- Past 5 years of malpractice insurance carriers verified directly with the insuring agency.
C. National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB)
An on-line Query is performed on each candidate for any malpractice history, state board reports/limitations on licensure and/or Medicare/Medicaid sanctions. This process is repeated every 6 months on active candidates or as needed.
D. Professional References
Whitaker must obtain 3 professional references that have worked with the candidate in the past 12 months.
